Upgrade Your 3D Printer to Klipper with MainsailOS
Faster, smoother prints with input shaping and pressure advance, controlled from a modern web UI.
Klipper moves the heavy math from the printer's small board to the Raspberry Pi. The result: higher speeds, vibration compensation and easy configuration in a text file.
Wrong thermistor or heater settings can overheat a printer. Verify every temperature setting and test thermal runaway protection.

Mission steps
Flash MainsailOS
In Imager: Other specific-purpose OS → 3D printing → MainsailOS.
Find your printer config
Klipper's repository includes sample printer.cfg files for many printers and boards.
Build and flash the MCU firmware
SSH in, run make menuconfig in ~/klipper for your board's chip, then make, and flash the resulting firmware to the printer board as its docs describe.
Connect and configure
Upload printer.cfg in Mainsail, set the serial path from ls /dev/serial/by-id/ and restart.
Tune
Run PID calibration, measure input shaping with an accelerometer (ADXL345) and tune pressure advance.
Code
cd ~/klipper
make menuconfig # choose your printer board's microcontroller
make
ls /dev/serial/by-id/ # copy this path into printer.cfg [mcu] serial:Tip: test every script on the bench before installing it in a moving machine.
Questions
Can I go back to stock firmware?
